Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does video production cost?

Well, “it depends.” We price video production services on a project-by-project basis, which takes into consideration several key factors, such as project scope, complexity, and delivery timeline.

We often hear of client companies that may not have significant budget allocations for video production and are hesitant to reach out. If you let us know what your budget is going into a video production project, we will try to find the right blend of services that will meet your needs within your budget. Just remember the old adage, “Fast, cheap, good – you can only choose two.”

  • Do you accept RFPs for competitive bid?

No. Our experience with competitive bidding for video production services has been counterproductive. It prevents open collaboration and proper project planning from the very beginning. Therefore, we only provide proposals after we have personally met with you and have a proper understanding of your needs and goals.

  • Do I have to provide my own script?

You can if you like, but we are a full-service video production company, providing all phases of video production including writing. Writing for video is a lot different than writing for print, so even if you provide a draft, we can optimize it for the screen.

  • Do you use AI?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is invading the video production world, but we take a balanced approach. While our cameras and editing systems use specialized AI to track focus, improve resolution and otherwise enhance image and sound quality, we normally do not use AI to generate content from scratch. AI can help with human creativity, but it should never be considered as a replacement.

  • Can you provide standalone video acquisition or editing services?

Absolutely. As a full-service video production company, we can provide individual production components a la carte. We can capture footage in high-resolution professional formats for you to edit, or we can edit footage you provide.  We can shoot multi-camera video in the field or a studio environment, and we can work in-person or online.

  • Do you provide aerial video and photo services?

Yes. Our experienced drone pilot maintains the required FAA Part 107 license so our aerial video footage and images can be commercially used. Our aircraft is capable of 5.1K video and 20MP stills. (The FAA limits the area in which we can fly. Be sure to mention the site location when contacting us.)

  • Can you accomodate archival footage from tape or film formats?

Yes! We can digitize and include most types of slides, photos, videotape and 16mm/8mm/Super 8 film in your video project. See our capabilities at www.adventdigitizing.com

  • Can you do time-lapse photography or videography?

Yes. We have many techniques for capturing time-lapse footage, depending on what you’d like to capture and how long you want it to progress.

  • What is the difference between Documentary, Narrative, Promotional and Instructional video?

Documentary Videos are “reality” based, and document an event, a person, a company, a product or an idea. Documentary has a wide variety of styles, ranging from narrated graphics or “b-roll” (wild or stock) footage, to interviews, reenactments, or music-video style montages. Documentaries may be scripted (written in advance), or unscripted – driven by events that are filmed or open-ended interviews with people (our specialty).

Narrative videos are story-based, like feature films or TV dramas. They feature actors playing fictional (or real) characters in situations dreamed up by writers. Often used for entertainment, the narrative approach can be used to promote or instruct.

Promotional videos can be documentary or narrative films that have a purpose to promote a product, company or idea. Sales videos, explainer videos and commercials all have one goal, to help customers make the decision to trust the sponsor and buy their product or service.

Instructional videos are a type of documentary intended to teach someone how to do something. Sometimes considered “explainer videos,” these give step-by-step instructions on how to use a product or perform a task. YouTube is filled with amateur instructional videos, but a professional instructional video gets right to the point and explains the why and how of the process with a minimum of distraction.

  • What is your approach to video production?

Like any video producer, we have our style. Our roots are in the multi-image slide show era, where we could not use talking heads, so our approach in writing and filming documentary, promotional and instructional videos is to “illustrate, illustrate, illustrate.” We try to use examples, graphics, and video images of what people or the narrator are talking about as much as possible. The key thing we always ask is “what is the single most important IMPRESSION the client wants the audience to have?” That’s because Rule #1 in video is, “People forget details, but they remember impressions.”
